EBRI: CDHP enrollees show more cost-conscious behaviors

Data from the Employee Benefit Research Institute suggest people enrolled in consumer-directed health plans display more cost-conscious behaviors than traditional health plan beneficiaries. CDHP members are more likely to conduct additional research on health care costs and quality, and they are more likely to participate in wellness programs and engage in healthy behaviors such as exercise and not smoking.
