Retailers and restaurants are working to figure out how to leverage all the big data that's now available from loyalty programs and transactions, says Applied Predictive Technologies CEO Anthony Bruce. "We as humans are conditioned to see patterns sometimes when they don't exist," he says, which means merchants need to test their findings at some stores and not others to see if shopping patterns are really there.
