Field trips becoming more rare in tight fiscal times

Constant budget cuts and pressures to maximize classroom instructional time are forcing Sacramento schools to curtail field trips. At Hiram Johnson High School, teacher Dana Jenks has relied on fund raising and grants to send her students each spring to a nearby amusement park to study real-world application of physics concepts.
