Following the recent finding of a BSE-infected cow in Washington state, will the U.S. adopt even more comprehensive cattle tests, as is routinely done throughout Europe and Japan? U.S. industry and government officials support the current methods of testing "downer" cattle, but others point out that cattle without symptoms can carry the disease.
