Dodd's ties to financial industry help his campaign

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd, D-Conn., has taken advantage of his connections to the financial-services sector to boost his bid for the presidency. Steve Bartlett, president and CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, said officials in the financial industry view Dodd's candidacy as beneficial to them. "We talked with a lot of our members and realized that while many of our members have other candidates they favor for big-picture reasons, it's useful to the industry to have a candidate in the debates and on the campaign trail that has a useful knowledge of the issues important to us," Bartlett said.
