Firm: RevPAR, occupancy, room rates down for U.S. hotels in Nov.

American hotels saw their November revenue per available room plunge 12.9% from the same month the year before, while occupancy declined 6.2 percentage points to 51.9% for the month. The November average daily room rate was down as well from November 2007, but the rate for first 11 months of 2008 was still showing a net increase. "The industry's performance has weakened as the year has progressed, but one silver lining is that as a whole, the industry has been able to achieve positive year-over-year year-to-date ADR growth through November," said Mark Lomanno, president of STR Global, which released the report.
