Shifting temperatures in Wisconsin create roof ice dams

Roofing companies in Wisconsin say heavy snow, as well as freezing and warming weather, has resulted in ice dams on residential roofs. Experts caution that ice dams can rot the deck of a roof and allow water to come into a home. Roofing contractors also advise homeowners not to chip away ice or throw salt on the ice dams since that can damage shingles.
