Study: Overweight, at-risk pregnant women have lower rate of preterm delivery

A study found being overweight may give some protection to pregnant women at higher-than-average risk of premature delivery. The overweight women in the study had a preterm delivery rate of 8%, compared with 22% for normal or underweight women. Researchers say the reason may be differences in the frequency of uterine contractions between normal-weight and overweight women.
