Modified terms in PTC renewal will benefit industry, AWEA says

The renewal of the wind-energy Production Tax Credit under the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 includes modified terms that could spark a revival in the sector, which was expected to contract in 2013. Unlike previous extensions of the PTC, the tax incentive now covers wind projects whose construction begins this year, not just those that go online within the year. "This extension allows the industry to reactivate development that had been on hold since mid-year," said Tom Vinson, senior director of federal and regulatory affairs for the American Wind Energy Association.
