Tech chiefs adapt to rising profile as business leaders

Chief information officers will play a stronger role in developing and implementing business strategy in 2013, a function of their increased credibility in the front office and the changing role of corporate IT, tech leaders say. A poll of 563 IT execs finds CIOs are willing and eager to embrace executive management skills, and a fifth say they consider themselves fully entrenched as business leaders in their firms. According to the survey, almost two-thirds of CIOs plan to more aggressively promote IT's strategic value in 2013, with a greater focus on customer service.
