Study: IC firms boost sales with chips for bitcoin mining

Advanced Micro Devices, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing and other chip companies are seeing higher sales owing to the boom in bitcoin-mining systems, according to a report by Wedbush Securities. "Due to the growth of the bitcoin network, mining machines now require powerful application-specific integrated circuits that are designed specifically to mine bitcoins," Wedbush's Gil Luria wrote in the report.
