TiVoToGo set to launch today; DVR technology sends files to PCs

DVR maker TiVo is set to launch its long-awaited mobile service today. TiVoToGo will allow subscribers to download recorded programs to PCs and laptops -- untethering TV viewing from TV. "It lays the foundation of moving content out of the living room,'' a TiVo spokeswoman said. TiVo says recorded content is encrypted to prevent theft, and subscribers who try to e-mail content could lose their accounts.
