U.S. probe into Chiron flu production moves ahead

The Los Angeles Times reports a knowledgeable source says the U.S. Justice Department has talked to several of Chiron's mid-level employees in the British-based flu vaccine operation and more interviews are expected. Experts speculate prosecutors may be looking for evidence of Chiron lying to the government or to investors about the California company's ability to supply the influenza vaccine. A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office in New York declined comment and Chiron's attorney could not be reached; the company has previously said it would cooperate with any investigation.
