Researchers find genetic cause of failure to produce insulin

Researchers in Japan believe they may have found a genetic difference in some mice to explain how Type 2 diabetes is contracted. They said mice with only one copy of the GCK gene responsible for measuring blood glucose levels were unable to build the beta cell mass in the pancreas to increase the amount of insulin.
