Slight rise in November construction spending unexpected

Construction spending in the U.S. unexpectedly rose by 0.1% in November, following a 0.4% October decline. Spending was forecast to drop 0.4% in November after an earlier report of a 0.8% decline in October, but work on schools, factories and power plants helped compensate for a residential construction decline.
