Cable programmers hope comedies mean big business in 2010

Comedy is expected to perform in 2010, with a number of cable networks preparing laughs in an attempt to woo viewers. "I think [ABC's] 'Modern Family' is great, but in general there is still a real dearth of comedy [on the networks]," said Nick Grad, executive vice president of original programming at FX, which will debut at least two new comedies this year.
