Rhode Island schools leader focuses on teacher quality

Rhode Island schools chief Deborah A. Gist says she has met with hundreds of parents, students and educators since taking office in September in her quest to improve teacher quality, a priority of her education-reform agenda. According to Gist, Rhode Island students tell her: "Great teachers care about them, and will do whatever it takes to make them learn. Great teachers make it fun. They make it relevant."
