Clearwire has strongest spectrum chest, but Verizon looms

Clearwire has emerged with the largest amount of wireless spectrum at its disposal, all of it ready for 4G operations, according to a Yankee Group chart on the carriers' various spectrum holdings. The WiMAX provider lacks key frequencies in some markets but is strong in the largest cities. Verizon Wireless does enjoy a clear advantage in holding the most 700-MHz and AWS spectrum in the top 10 markets, frequencies that it can earmark for 4G networks, according to the research firm.
