Commentary: Use caution in helping adult children buy a house

More baby boomers are helping their adult children and grandchildren purchase homes. According to a survey, 20% of baby boomers have either gifted money, co-signed a loan or loaned their children or grandchildren money to buy a home, and more than two-thirds intend to help in the future. The trend could hurt boomers' retirement savings while providing few favors for their struggling children, writes Steven Van Metre.
