GLP-1 may be involved in glucose control after gastric bypass

A study in Diabetes Care revealed that type 2 diabetes patients who underwent gastric bypass surgery attained significant reductions in weight, insulin sensitivity index and glucose area under the curve from 0 to 180 min, one year following the procedure. The association between glucagon-like peptide-1 and insulin concentrations indicate glucagon-like peptide-1 may play a role in glucose control, researchers said.
