PTC extension among bills being prioritized for jobs impact

Lawmakers in Washington are increasingly weighing federal proposals using one criterion -- its effect on jobs -- instead of evaluating such rules using a cost-benefit analysis, writes Robert Pear. The extension of the Production Tax Credit for wind energy may "create and save 54,000 jobs," and letting it expire would lead to about 37,000 job losses, according to the American Wind Energy Association.
