2012 holiday season totaled $42.3 billion in online sales

Online shoppers in the U.S. spent about $42.3 billion during the last two months of 2012, according to a comScore analysis, an increase of 14% from the same period the year before. Thanksgiving Day and "Free Shipping Day" saw particularly strong sales, although the end of December was relatively weak for online retailers.
