AAFP calls for SGR repeal, solution to sequestration cuts

Congress included a one-year fix for the Medicare sustainable growth rate formula in its fiscal cliff bill, stopping a 26.5% physician pay cut. AAFP Board Chair Glen Stream, M.D., called it a "temporary patch" and pushed for repeal of the SGR and for Congress to find a solution to pending Budget Control Act sequestration cuts, which would reduce Medicare payments by 2%.
