ABC News: How retailers continue to grapple with organized retail crime

Shrink cost retailers more than $34 billion in 2011, with shoplifting accounting for over one-third of losses alone, according to NRF. As NRF's vice president of loss prevention points out in this recent interview with "ABC Nightly News," organized retail crime syndicates are cashing in on innocent shoppers by reselling stolen items through anonymous vendors like online auction sites or flea markets -- compromising the health and safety of consumers while making it more difficult for retailers to put a stop to this costly crime.
