"Fiscal cliff" deal helps bolster U.S. markets

The Dow Jones industrial average, the Nasdaq and the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index rose more than 2% each after lawmakers struck a compromise to avert the "fiscal cliff." However, many investors continued to strike a cautious tone, saying the deal merely delays the nation's budget issues.
