Gamesa to cut 92 jobs in Pa. despite PTC renewal

Gamesa USA is pushing through with plans to cut 92 jobs at its factory in Cambria County, Pa., early this year despite the last-minute deal by Congress to extend the wind-energy Production Tax Credit. "Although not irreparable, recovery in 2013 will be slow, even with the PTC extension," said David Rosenberg, Gamesa USA's vice president of marketing. "Because wind farms usually need 12 to 18 months for development, it will still be nearly two years before the industry sees significant recovery, as developers recall teams to restart dormant projects."
