Land deal signals movement on Kan. biosecurity lab

On Wednesday, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and other officials announced that the Department of Homeland Security has signaled support for the construction of a $1.14 billion biosecurity lab to be built in Manhattan, Kan. Federal officials signed a land transfer agreement paving the way for the facility's construction. "While there is much more work to be done, signing of the land transfer agreement is a good step forward in securing the future health, wealth and security of the our nation," Brownback said.
