London Zoo begins massive animal count

Every year, as part of its licensing requirements, the London Zoo conducts a census of its 17,500-plus animal residents, and this year's count is under way. The zoo added some occupants last year that will be tallied in the census, including an endangered white-naped mangabey monkey, a black-and-white colobus monkey, and male and female endangered Sumatran tigers that researchers hope will breed.
