N.C. 5th-graders lead school's recycling efforts

Six fifth-graders from Old Fort Elementary in North Carolina have been presenting their research on the benefits of recycling to other classes and plan to collect recyclables from each class, weigh the collections weekly and award the class that recycles the most with a party. "This has been a great project for the kids. They've learned the importance of double checking their facts and learned how to cite their resources properly," said teacher Beth Vess.
