San Diego Convention Center to undergo $520M expansion

A $520 million project to expand the San Diego Convention Center by about one-third its current size is set to start next year. However, the project's funding source -- a surcharge on hotel rooms -- had been the subject of a lawsuit. A judge said the tax was legal, but the case is now being appealed, which could stall the work.
