Study suggests role for LGE cardiac MR in treatment decisions

A new study suggests late gadolinium enhancement cardiac MR could be used for risk stratification and management of patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, including helping clinicians determine which ones are candidates for implantable cardioverter defibrillators. Analysis of nine studies showed that those with LGE had higher mortality, heart failure hospitalization and composite of sudden cardiac death. The findings were published in Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging.
