Principal overhauls a huge Connecticut high school

Now in his second year as principal of New Britain High School, Thomas Reale has made sweeping and controversial changes to ease crowding of his 3,200 students, who attend classes in a building designed for 1,700. Reale, who readily admits he lacks charisma and empathy, believes his radical restructuring will eventually curb the dropout rate, boost attendance and raise test scores.
