NIH begins human trial of bird flu vaccine

The NIH began a human clinical trial of a vaccine designed to protect against bird flu. The DNA-based vaccine, already proven effective in animal studies, is being tested on some of 45 volunteers ages 18 to 60, with the rest receiving a placebo. They are to be monitored for one year.
