Oregon considers tightening toxic-waste rules

Regulators in Oregon hope to tighten standards for 118 waste products, including 40 pesticides and 17 prescription-drug and personal-care byproducts, that are found in local waterways. The plan would introduce "trigger levels" for each of the toxins and require water-treatment plants to develop reduction plans for any chemical that exceeded safe levels.
