South Korean officials fire, suspend teachers for protests

Fifty-five South Korean teachers are being suspended or fired for taking part in political activities, officials have announced. All affected teachers are members of the progressive Korean Teachers and Educational Workers' Union. The government says the teachers violated the law, but union officials say the teachers' freedom of expression has been violated.
