REITs accounted for 40% of 2010 investment sales in D.C. area

REITs were the largest buying group in the Washington, D.C., area in 2010, according to CB Richard Ellis. They accounted for 40% of such activity. But they will be facing more competition in 2011, says William E. Kaye, executive vice president of CBRE's investment sales group. "REITs are going to find themselves competing more against pension funds and other institutional investors," he says.
