Price tag for flight in Calif. rescue helicopter over $16,000

Figures in a staff report from a meeting during which the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors approved a five-year contract with California Shock Trauma Air Rescue showed that a ride in one of their rescue helicopters started at $16,165 for "scene flight lift off," and the cost went up from there. CALSTAR COO Tad Henderson said, "From our perspective, they are too high," but he also noted there is a "heavy cost of operating a $5 million helicopter."
