Staples pulls Sinclair ads

The office retailer Staples is ceasing all advertising on stations owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, the Maryland-based company that engendered controversy for its broadcast of "Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal," which criticized then-presidential candidate John Kerry's war record. Liberal activists, especially a group called Media Matters that led an e-mail campaign targeting companies that advertise on Sinclair, took credit for the move, but Staples executives, while mentioning consumer pressure, did not acknowledge any group by name.
