StemCells plans trial of neural stem cells

Palo Alto, Calif.-based StemCells announced plans to begin an early-stage trial using brain stem cells to treat Batten disease, a genetic problem that attacks the central nervous system of children. The trial, the first to examine the use of human neural stem cells for such treatment, is to be conducted at Stanford University Medical Center.
