James Shillinglaw, editor in chief of TravelPulse.com, would like to see the economy recover much more rapidly than most are expecting it will. "I remain optimistic that the recession will not last well past 2009, as many observers have recently forecast," he writes. "I also believe we will begin to see an uptick later this year as the new administration in Washington enacts major new economic stimulus programs." He also hopes that leading travel agent organizations, such as ASTA, will grow stronger in the new year.
