Newspaper profiles district's unsung heroes

In a week-long series, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has profiled five low-profile district employees: a cafeteria assistant manager, a facilities coordinator, a principal's secretary, a security monitor and a school bus driver. Although these employees rarely receive public attention, schools would be "in big trouble without them," said middle-school principal Krista Herrera. "They give the Band-Aids and kiss the boo-boos."
