Wash. university offers virtual medical training for surgeons

The Institute for Simulation and Interprofessional Studies at the University of Washington offers medical students a way to learn surgery with the help of video-game technology, mannequins and other simulation devices. The training program not only allows students to practice their skills without causing harm to patients but also encourages them to work collaboratively, a university official said.
