Cleveland schools chief unveils transformation plan

Cleveland's schools chief Eugene Sanders announced a three-year, $70 million transformation plan that includes districtwide reforms as well as the closure of 18 schools. The proposed school-by-school improvements are aimed at boosting academic achievement, offering greater school choice for students and improving accountability across the board. Sanders hopes to pay for almost half of the plan with federal Race to the Top stimulus money.
