One parent says her 4-year-old was pushed too hard in her British school but succeeded in the South African education system, where educators focus on the whole child. The young girl and her two sisters flourished in a pressure-free atmosphere that focused more on unstructured play and free time than book lists and standardised tests. When the family returned to England, the sisters were able to keep pace with their peers but decided to enroll in schools that offered an alternative to "brain-only" learning.
