New AIDS vaccine research shows promise

The results of a study of experimental vaccines published Wednesday show that monkeys were protected from an especially lethal form of the AIDS virus, raising hopes that a vaccine could soon be tested in humans. The study also helped identify the part of the immune system that offers protection from HIV.
