Dogs' cosmic connection dictates defecation preferences, study suggests

It appears dogs align with the cosmos, or at least with the Earth's north-south magnetic field, when defecating, according to recently published research. In the study, which evaluated 1,893 defecation events of 70 dogs representing 37 breeds, scientists noted that the dogs tended to align their bodies along the axis when they defecated, assuming the magnetic field was stable. Other animals demonstrate magnetoreception, including some other canids, birds and bees.
