Feds consider reforms to make federal IT more competitive

The White House is developing a plan to bring more competent IT professionals into the federal government by reforming some hiring practices, including lessening the time it takes to complete the vetting process. The Obama administration is considering the creation of a tech division to handle large federal IT initiatives and the possibility of allowing agencies to hire IT specialists directly instead of through the Office of Personnel Management.
