Fla. highlights lower cost of community-college prepaid plans

More Florida parents are being encouraged to consider prepaid tuition plans at the state's community colleges as the price of the plan for four-year schools has increased, officials with the Florida Prepaid College Program say. Many of the state's 28 community colleges reportedly offer bachelor's degrees, and a plan for a newborn costs $118.32 a month for 223 months. "Combine that with keeping your student local and saving on housing and transportation -- parents are seeing the better value at the state colleges," Association of Florida Colleges CEO Michael Brawer said.
