Florida Supreme Court strikes down voucher program

The Florida Supreme Court yesterday ruled 5-2 that the Opportunity Scholarship Program, which affects more than 700 students statewide, is unconstitutional because it diverts public money to private schools. Gov. Jeb Bush, who had championed the vouchers as a means of expanded school choice, vowed to find a way to preserve the program, including possibly seeking a constitutional amendment this year.
