DiFusion Technologies develops infection-fighting device

DiFusion Technologies has created an implant designed to help protect patients from infections after spine operations. The device, which is made of plastic mixed with silver, zinc and copper ions, is able to deliver its dosage over four to six weeks. The company, which is conducting initial tests of the product on animals, hopes to secure FDA approval by midsummer or early fall.
